Microsoft Southeast Europe Top CISO Club Istanbul Meeting

Just wrapped up an incredible experience at the Southeast Europe Top CISO Club meeting in the beautiful city of Istanbul. It was a gathering of 25 top security leaders from across Southeast Europe. It involved an inspiring few days full of insights, forward-thinking dialogue, and meaningful collaboration. Moreover, the gathering had a shared mission: to build stronger, more secure organizations in an increasingly volatile digital landscape.

Over the course of the event, we dove deep into some of the most pressing topics facing CISOs today. From cyber resilience in the age of disruption, to agentic security in a world increasingly shaped by AI, to the growing need for robust regulatory and governance frameworks.

What became clear is that cyber resilience is no longer just about putting up walls to keep attackers out. It’s about designing systems and strategies that can anticipate threats, adapt to change, and recover quickly when disruption occurs. This shift requires not only technical agility, but cultural and organizational readiness as well.

One of the standout discussions was around agentic security — a concept that’s rapidly gaining relevance as AI systems become more autonomous. The big questions we tackled: How do we ensure these systems are not only powerful but trustworthy? How do we enforce accountability, transparency, and control in AI-driven environments? As the lines between human and machine decision-making blur, these are no longer theoretical concerns – they’re mission-critical.

What truly stood out was the depth of knowledge, passion, and commitment in the room. From zero trust frameworks to AI-driven threat detection, every conversation reinforced just how vital collaboration is in this space. The challenges we face are vast, but so is the collective expertise and innovation of the global security community.
